Update on Selection of New President
May 31, 2010
The first step in the process of selecting a new president was to ask the members of the General Conference of Elders for their recommendations. That step was completed on Monday, May 24 with 39 elders recommended for the responsibility of president.
We are in the middle of the next step in the process which is to receive a yes or no response from those recommended. The last date to receive those responses is Tuesday, June 1. Each nominee who responds in the affirmative will be sent a resume to complete. The nominees will have until Friday June 11 to return the completed resumes.
We will keep you updated as the process continues along.

Thank you Mr. Holladay for updating us. We will look forward to seeing who the candidates are along with their progress. I think it’s wonderful that the entire Church membership can watch the process as it unfolds.

How exciting! Who are the 39 nominated men? It sure would be wonderful, edifying, and a sign of transparency from the Home Office to know who the men nominated by their peers are?

Who are the elders who are in the area of nomination??? The Church should know.

Thank you for the update on the nomination process for a new UCG president. I am doing my part by praying for wisdom on the part of those who will be considering the various gentlemen nominated.
I also beg to differ with some of the comments above requesting to know the nominees’ names.
First, it is important that the office of president not become a popularity contest. There may be a wonderful candidate for president processing the proper attitude and skill set who is a non-salaried elder known only to his immediate circle. I am much more concerned that the individual have the managerial skill set necessary to do the job and a humble attitude than that his last name is _____ (you fill in the blank).
Second, it has been stated that 39 individuals were nominated. There will be several, if not many, who even though qualified choose not to be part of the process because of family or job considerations. Just because they have been nominated by others doesn’t mean that they do not have a right to privacy if they choose not to participate.
