United Church of God Stance on Same-Sex Marriage

July 1, 2015

On Friday, June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its long-anticipated decision about what the status of same-sex marriage is to be in the United States. Based upon Holy Scripture the United Church of God believes and teaches that marriage is a union between a man and a woman, exclusive of all others.

Victor Kubik, president of the United Church of God, an International Association, issued a video statement on the Churchs’ stance on this subject.

  1. Thank you Mr. Kubik for expressing our stance and thanks also to those at the home office putting together this very important clip.

God’s strength be with us all.

  2. Thanks Mr. Kubik as our Leader to stand up for God and for encouraging the brethren to obey God rather than man when it comes to a conflict in man’s law and God’s law.

  3. What a relief! Now I can stand tall on my local “Beyond Today” radio program in eastern Zambia and present the stand of the UCG (AIA) on this unnecessarily contentious issue. Thank you.

  4. This is at the center of the truth in the (WHOLE) Holy Bible. My prayer is that one day soon people will know the deeper meaning of the word “Maidservant”, as found in the Forth and Tenth Commandment. Thank you.

  7. I’m thankful for the statement, but I’m curious about why UCG felt compelled to issue one – and took five days after the decision to post it.

    • He didn’t mention homosexuality and the scriptures concerning it. so I don’t understand the purpose for this either. We members already understand our beliefs on marriage, so why is this “news”? Maybe I’m missing the point? He said we needed to live peaceably with others–so is homosexuality now not so bad? Surely, homosexuality should have been covered if the church is making a “statement” of our beliefs. By the way, I cannot find the fundamental beliefs listed on the web site anymore. There is an “About the Church” booklet, but it doesn’t cover the fundamental beliefs.

  8. Thanks, but why can’t we make the fundamental beliefs prominent again, so that new visitors can see just what we believe? It used to be one of the first links. Now, I wouldn’t be able to tell this site from any other “christian” site if I didn’t know what to search for.

    • Saenir, we are currently working on a solution to this very issue. Thank you for your thoughts and patience on it.
