June 30, 2015

The Cincinnati East, Ohio, congregation of the United Church of God (UCG) is continuing its bi-weekly Beyond Today Bible study series titled: “The Churches of Revelation.” The story of Smyrna will be covered on Wednesday, July 1, at the time of 7 p.m. Eastern and will be available live via webcast.

For this third study Gary Petty, Nashville, Tennessee, pastor and Beyond Today presenter, will present , “Smyrna—The Persecuted Church.” What would you think of Christians who lived in poverty and were hated by their neighbors? In the book of Revelation, the church at Smyrna is famous for their poverty and persecution, yet Jesus Christ calls them “rich.”

Join Gary Petty as we explore the church in Smyrna and how to deal with persecution.

  2. Clicking on the “LIVE Webcast: Smyrna-The Persecuted Church” in the UCG Member Updates email, brings up and shows the map picture. Clicking on the map, it brings up the video of the Revelation – not the current one for Smyrna. I finally found the new video for Smryna by hunting around, but it was not attached to the Live webcast Smyrna link. It’s possible that is what was confusing for the first person posting a comment? It did work well though, once I found it (I viewed it after it started).
