BT Daily: Dennis Luker 1937-2013

March 14, 2013

We were greatly saddened here today at the United Church of God home office. Our president, Dennis Luker, died this morning—after a very short battle with cancer.

Please watch today’s BT Daily presented by Darris McNeely. It includes archival footage of some of Mr. Lukers inspired words.

  1. Mr. Luker dedicated his life in service to God and the church. He will continue that service in His Kingdom. May we all do likewise.

  7. Brenda and I are deeply saddened and stunned that Mr. Luker died so quickly. His illness was announced by Dr. Meredith during a recent Sabbath service and we were all urged to pray for his healing. At the close of the service the entire headquarters congregation joined in praying for him, Mrs. Luker and family. I remember him as a soft spoken and gentle fellow student at AC and later as a helpful friend. We miss him now but will soon see him again in his glorious spirit body. Doug and Brenda Lindly

  10. This is what I have learned from Mr. Luker. He was a true minister of Jesus the Christ. Mr. Luker taught me to use the love of God in every battle that I face. He taught me to be patient, to cover myself with humility, to engage myself in the work that Jesus has given to all of His children, to love each other like Christ loves His church, to remember that God is love and His love never fails, to fight for my church and to hold on to the promises of God and to always know that no matter what the church faces today or in the future, Jesus Christ is the Head of His church and He does not need our help to lead His church, He is in control of His church. I will miss him personally because he was a great man of character, full of humility and love. I thank God for His plan, now that Mr. Luker is asleep awaiting for the trumpet to sound where I will meet with him again.

Brethren, be of good courage and we need to make sure that the church continues the legacy of love, humility and understanding and to be open to receive others when they decide to come to UCG. That is the message that Mr. Luker left to all of us to follow as he followed the love of Christ in his life.

With much love to his family and friends, Germaine Boulin from NY congregation.
