A Place of Safety for the Church?

November 12, 2012

The Cincinnati East, Ohio, congregation of the United Church of God is continuing its bi-weekly Bible study Wednesday night, November 14. The study begins at 7:30 p.m. ET and is available live via webcast.

The series on the book of Revelation continues with chapters 12 and 13. What is Bible prophecy referring to when it says the woman [the church] “might fly into the wilderness to her place”? And, who is the beast of chapter 13?

Join us for in-depth study into these topics and more on Wednesday. Presenters will be Darris McNeely and Steve Myers.

Plan to attend in person, or you can listen online. Also, please note that we have a mobile option. You can view the Bible study using your smartphone.

  2. This is a topic the Ministry has avoided about for years.

    • Well, not really. There was a sermon specifically about “the place of safety” at the Branson Feast site this year.

      • You are fortunate to have heard a sermon about the Place of safety. Many ministers I have known except one say they want to avoid all speculation and controversy.

  3. Is there any way I can listen to this on another day than Wednesday? Can I download this bible study to listen to or watch later? I have a very slow internet connection which makes live feeds choppy and slow. Please reply

    • Karen, an archived copy of the Bible study will be available on the webcast page for you to listen to or download after the presentation has concluded.

  4. …..We did enjoy this Bible Study. I agree with the presenters that the Petra speculation is rather thin. Steve Myers did mention Joel 2/32 that reveals where it is. Also Psalms 48 {hymn Mt. Zion stands most beautiful } tells.where it is..Therefore the place prepared is inside Mt. Zion within Jerusalem. The Bible contains a thread of supporting information about this subject beginnng in Exodus 15/12-17.thru Revelation 12/14-16.
Therefore a good place to hide God’s truth is in the plain sight of scripture and the Petra tradition. The presenters did a good job with short time available……

    • I should add, I’ve looked on the UCG sermon site and UCG Feast site, and can’t seem to find it.

      • Laura, since you asked… It’s on the UCG-Garden Grove website:

Scroll down watching the right hand column, to 9.1.12, and voila!
(MP3 format — instructions are at top of that page; disclaimers at bottom.)

      • Afterthought: I’d recommend waiting until after 8 PM EST to attempt a download, so as not to overload the GG server during our service and cybercast today. Thanks for interest and consideration..

        • I visited the site and I am definitely going to download and save several of the sermons on it1 The titles all look like things I need to learn about. We are so blessed to have such wonderful archives of sermons, both on the main UCG site and sites like the Garden Grove site. I like to download them and put them on CD so I can listen to them while commuting to work. They put me in (hopefully) a good Christian attitude before I get there and face the day’s stress!

  6. It has been stated, in the past, that this topic has been avoided by the ministry. We must remember the scripture which states: “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens.” Eccl. 3:1 (NKJ)
Now seems to be the season.

  7. P.S. Enjoying this Bible Study series very much. I have read through the book of Revelation many times in my 45 yrs. in the church. I have been “enlightened” tremendously with these Bible studies. Thank you for the great effort in Preaching the Gospel, Preparing a People.
