Video From Council of Elders

December 31, 2010

Greetings Fellow Ministers and Brethren,

The Council of Elders has prepared a document with answers to some of the more common questions asked of the Council in recent weeks. Council Communications Committee chairman, Darris McNeely, has subsequently recorded a video of the questions and answers for you to watch. The video is 15 minutes long and is now posted on the Council of Elders Web site.

Both an audio MP3 version and a Windows Media Player video version are available for download.

Thank you,

Melvin Rhodes—Chairman

  2. Very well written, presented and direct as well as to the point.
Onward and forward we The Church of GOD must continue with preparing a people and preaching The Gospel which is The Good News of the soon to arrive Government of GOD to this planet! Staying in focused pursuit of this privilage that so many in the World are waiting for! And they wait for us to work at getting in right though not perfect. We will Yeild our hearts and minds to our loving Father while our eldest brother which is Christ will guide through towards VICTORY!
Not just for us, but for the rest of the World that needs this information and PEACE so desperately!
At the end of all of this………We all win!

  3. While my spirit within me is deeply saddened of our current situation I want so much to wake up as if from a dream and the trial will be no more and our resolve and course more firmly set on finishing with zeal and enthusiasm the SHORT WORK that the Son of man and our Abba will make upon this earth as we truly have been ENTRUSTED with delivering the Good News of the Coming Kingdom of God to all nations upon the earth for a WITNESS to all nations and when we have completed this mission we will truly say, “that it was our duty to do this”, but I want so much for our Father and His Holy One to work effectively in us so that WE CAN be a LIGHT to the world representing that GREAT AND AWESOME KINGDOM which we know and are pursuaded by the Holy Spirit will SOON fill the face of the whole world for that STONE which was cut out of the mountain without human hands will indeed become a GREAT MOUNTAIN AND FILL THE WHOLE EARTH AND THAT KINGDOM SHALL STAND FOREVER. The Son of man is always ready to DELIVER us – we MUST TRUST AND RELY ON HIM just as He trusted and relied on His and our Father when our Father sent Him into the world. I know and am pursuaded that the Church can do many mighty wonderful things through Christ in us as we submit to Him and His will. The governance which United has is scriptural – I have proven this time and time again and the Son of man allows for reconciliation for those who turn aside from unity. The POWER OF OUR FATHER’S HOLY SPIRIT IS WHAT ALLOWS US TO BE HUMBLE, WE DO NOT SEEK OUR OWN, YET, OUR HEART’S DESIRE AND MIND IS ON THE GOOD OF OTHERS – WHAT WE CAN DO FOR THEM, WHETHER PHYSICALLY OR PRAYING FOR THEM SPIRITUALLY FOR WE HAVE ALL BEEN CALLED TO GLORY.

My heart’s desire is that one day we may all be UNITED, for I tell you the truth, when SATAN stands up with his angels and fights with MICHAEL and his angels (Rev. 12 & Dan. 12)Satan will at that time begin to destroy all of humanity as he will make the world like a wilderness and destroy its cities – you know the rest of the story – Christ MUST return else ALL flesh would die. We as a Church will NEED each other in those days – many of us will be tried and perhaps lose our lives for a short season before our resurrection and as Christ does not and cannot lie He will deliver us and take us to our appointed place until He returns in glory. THE WORK WILL GO ON AND IN POWER AND STRENGTH BECAUSE WE RELY AND TRUST ON OUR FATHER AND HIS HOLY ONE, THE SON OF MAN. BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE OUR FRUITS WILL FOLLOW US.

  5. Thank you for this video message. I sent a few questions directly to the Council some were not answered but some were.
I trust, in time, my other questions will be answered. I am still praying and fasting for a reunification. I am glad the door remains open for those who may have a change of heart.
As soon as this video came out several members pointed out to me that it did not go far enough with the Sabbath command. The transcript states that, “Members of the United Church of God are not to do any ordinary or regular work on either the 7th day Sabbath or on the Holy Days” but not the other part of EX 20:10, “Thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.”
I hope this is an oversight that will be corrected because many seem to latch on to this as proof of watering down.
    Thank you again.

  6. Many ministers have left but good and faithful men rand women remain, many of which have been in the church for many years. Maybe this is the time to begin using these people and the gifts God has given them. I think we have relied too much on the ordained ministry but God has given us all gifts to be used to help one another. On several occasions Paul instructed Timothy to visit the churches and ordain as elders men that had certain characteristics. There are many humble men in our congregations that have been trained, who knows if for such a time as this. They might not be Ambassador graduates but are striving to lead godly lives. We must go on with meekness and humility and allow all whom God leads to do so, help carry the load.

    • Indeed 1 Tim 3:1-12 when it comes to ordaining elders and deacons, the passage speaks of including more things to concider than just having an ablity to teach.

  7. For those who believe that no apology has been given here is proof. Mr. McNeely said clearly”

Continuing, a number of people believe that there is fault on both sides of this situation—that both certain Council members and former administrators/Council members possess some responsibility for where we are today. That’s a fair question. And the answer is yes. The former administration made mistakes by pushing the move to Texas and by withholding information from the Council of Elders. We have made mistakes in trying to pick up the pieces and seeking to reconcile with an uncooperative former administration.

  8. I read the Transcript when this first came out but have just watched the video – and how much more powerful it is to hear the words being said. I have been looking forward to “moving on” and doing the work for a while now but I am so much more excited about what UCG will be capable of in its future after watching this. I have been so wanting us to REALLY preach the Gospel for many years now and I do believe that it is now possible (due to recent events).
    Thank You!

  10. elders or members who support insubordination will reap the fruit, of also having insubordination happen to them wherever they go.
