President Records Pre-Trumpets AOFB

September 2, 2010

This week president Dennis Luker recorded a special pre-Feast-of-Trumpets video message on the “About Our Father’s Business” (AOFB) series titled “Abounding in the Work of the Lord.”

We trust this 17-minute presentation will be an inspiring preview to the Holy Day season just ahead.

  1. Thnak you Denny for these timely reminders. With thanks to Edgar Guest, Here is another reminder that the Work of God is accomplished by more than just TV shows, web sites, publications, and home offices:

    I’d rather see a sermon
    than hear one any day;
    I’d rather one should walk with me
    than merely tell the way.
    The eye’s a better pupil
    and more willing than the ear,
    Fine counsel is confusing,
    but example’s always clear;
    And the best of all preachers
    are the men who live their creeds,
    For to see good put in action
    is what everybody needs.
    I soon can learn to do it
    if you’ll let me see it done;
    I can watch your hands in action,
    but your tongue too fast may run.
    And the lecture you deliver
    may be very wise and true,
    But I’d rather get my lessons
    by observing what you do;
    For I might misunderstand you
    and the high advice you give,
    But there’s no misunderstanding
    how you act and how you live.

  2. Thank you Dennis for such loving and sobering admonition to the brethren. I am constantly reminded through Scripture that whatever our Father’s Church, His little ones, does “as One”, in bearing forth fruit, it must not be of human might, power or strength but through His Holy Spirit, for truly, the glory (the Holy Spirit – grace and truth) which our Father gave to Him, He, the Son of man, has given to us, that we, the Church, through the Holy Spirit, might be “One”, even as they are “One”, and that, we, “as One”, should bring forth fruit unto our Father – the Ancient of Days and to His Holy One, the Son of man. The Holy Spirit has testified, through David, in a certain place, concerning the saints glory in the Age to Come, saying, “PRAISE the LORD! SING to the LORD a new song, and His praise in the ASSEMBLY OF SAINTS. Let ISRAEL REJOICE in THEIR MAKER. Let the CHILDREN of ZION be JOYFUL in their KING. Let them praise HIS NAME with the DANCE, let them sing praises to Him with the TIMBREL and HARP, for the LORD takes PLEASURE in HIS PEOPLE, He will BEAUTIFY the HUMBLE with SALVATION. Let the SAINTS be JOYFUL in GLORY, let them SING ALOUD on their beds. Let the HIGH PRAISES of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, TO EXECUTE VENGEANCE ON THE NATIONS, AND PUNISHMENTS ON THE PEOPLES, TO BIND THEIR KINGS WITH CHAINS, AND THEIR NOBLES WITH FETTERS OF IRON, TO EXECUTE ON THEM THE WRITTEN JUDGMENT – THIS HONOR HAVE ALL HIS SAINTS (Ps. 149).”

    And the Son of man has testified through Isaiah in another place, saying, “Bind up the testimony, seal the Law among My disciples, and I will wait upon the LORD, that hides His face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for Him. Behold, I and the children whom the LORD has given Me are for signs and wonders in Israel, from the LORD of hosts, which dwells in mount Zion…….to the Law and to the Testimony, if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them (Isa. 8:16-20).”

  3. I wanted to comment on the Member letter and booklet sent to us the end of August. I could not find a place to do so and felt AOFB would be the best place.

    I am on page 18 of the new “What Is Your Destiny?” booklet you sent with the August 31, 2010 member letter.

    I had to stop and let you know how great it is. It took me back 45 years ago when I read “Why Were You Born”. How magnificent to contemplate the plan the Eternal God Family has for us. What a privilege to have a part in making that incredible good news available to the world.

    My eyes were filled with tears of joy, my lips with thanks to the Holy Father and Son who leads us.

    Thank you all who have a part in making such wonderful tools to preach the gospel possible. God bless and help you to continue to do so.
