Video: God Cares For You

April 23, 2010

About three years ago, a poem called “Lost Generation” found its way onto YouTube. The poem, written by Jonathan Reed for an AARP-sponsored contest (and in turn inspired by an Argentinean political ad called “The Truth”), has attracted over 13 million views because of its curious nature—read top-to-bottom, the message is particularly bleak and hopeless. Read bottom-to-top, however, the message changes entirely.

We here at the home office were so impressed by the style of the poem that we put together one of our own. Written and read by Jeremy Lallier, and with masterful video work by Clint Porter, “God cares for you” explores a question that weighs heavy on the minds of many—the question of whether or not God cares.

Please take a moment to view the talented work of our media department personnel. In addition, a dedicated Web page, God cares for you, has been created.

  3. Hi Peter, Yes, Jeremy is very talented and I’ve liked previous things he’s done, but this one I do not believe is somthing that will attract new people. It is very clever and I noticed that alot of our people are excited about it because of the cleverness but we already know what United believes and so we give the benefit of the doubt. My younger son listened to it and he is 17 and thought it was clever but he told me that he wouldn’t have finished it if he was a new person who was looking for the truth. It would turn him off and I see looking at some of the comments that it looks like others have not listened all the way as well. It also seems very shallow. Most of the protestants know that God cares for you. Let’s continue to use great ideas, these young people are good at that but I’d like to see things that are more encouraging and a bit deeper on our personal church websites. Keep up the good work, I don’t mean to be discouraging, just letting you know how it comes across. 🙂 Thanks! Jeannie
