Letter Sent to UCG Ministry
April 16, 2010
[The following letter was sent to the United Church of God ministry by Roy Holladay yesterday, April 15.]
As you can imagine, life here at the home office has been quite busy over the past few days. Since I’m temporarily doing double duty as the interim president, it is gratifying and inspiring to see the day-to-day operation of the Church close and upfront. Many good things are happening, and I’ll get back to that in a moment, including new online resources for your use.
I mentioned in the recent member letter that I would be communicating regularly. From a Council news perspective, I wanted you as a minister to be first to know that the Council did approve two additional interim appointments last evening. Victor Kubik, a long-time minister and Council member, was approved to serve as interim operation manager for Ministerial Services. Vic has served in Christ’s ministry for more than four decades, and many of you know him well. He is already deep into the daily operations of that area. The Council also approved the appointment of Peter Eddington as interim operation manager for Media and Communications Services. Over the past 15 years Peter played a huge role in bringing the Church into the Internet age and has a solid track record as an elder helping serve congregations here.
In terms of what’s happening here at the home office, I think it is safe to say that we have opened wide a window for all to see directly where we are and where we are going. I hope that you have had an opportunity to view the new blog “Inside United: Realtime” that we have started, as well as the new daily updates on Twitter. These new online communication platforms have already proved to be very popular. Those tools, in addition to our other Web platforms, have seen multiple thousands of visitors and viewings since they started. Our members Web page set a new record today (more than 3,000 visits in one day). We’re committed to being very open and upfront about the activities of the Church, and you will continue see that.
Because of the recent changes, I think it would be safe to say that you may experience some questions from members on this upcoming Sabbath. In a commitment to be open and honest, we have placed a considerable amount of information about the recent changes online. I hope you’ve had an opportunity to read them. Perhaps it would be good to list them again here, conveniently linked directly to the online information for you to read or print out:
- About Our Father’s Business “Lord, establish the work of our hands”
- The current member letter outlining the changes
- The new blog from Church administrators, “Inside United: Realtime”
- The new Twitter account UCGmedia for news updates
All members in the United States and Canada should have received their copy of the current member letter by this Sabbath. That letter, as well as all of the above information, is available at the Church’s member site: http://members.ucg.org. Please encourage them to read the information for themselves if they have not done so already, and to look for new information coming during the week.
Thank you again for everything you do in serving God’s precious people. If you have any questions, please feel to direct them to Vic or myself. As I mentioned in both my letter and the “About Our Father’s Business” message, let us all unite in asking, “May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands” (Psalm 90:17).
All the best for an outstanding Sabbath,
